Doug's 50th Birthday

Doug isn't much for big celebrations but as he was turning 50 I felt we should do something special.  He didn't really want any bells or whistles though and so we agreed on a nice dinner at Tower Cafe and cake afterwards. 

When he came home from work, we had his presents waiting. 

I thought it was a shame that we couldn't celebrate his birthday with all of our family and friends so I decided if we couldn't go to them, I would bring a little of them to us.  I e-mailed everyone asking for their favorite memories of moments with Doug and then typed them onto cardstock and stuck them into individual envelopes.  I found pictures of each person with Doug and lined the envelope with that picture.

It was a lot of fun to hear everyone's thoughts about Doug and he said it was the best present he'd ever received.  One of the very best parts of the evening, however, had to be when Alaina, Zac, and Skylar surprised Doug at the restaurant. 

Alaina called Doug to tell him they wouldn't be in until the following day but then showed up at dinner.  It was so special and we got to meet our little granddaughter for the first time! 

I think Skylar and Uncle Jacob liked each other!  It was a wonderful evening and I think Doug enjoyed it!  We're so thankful to have him in our lives.  He's a wonderful husband and father and we're so blessed!  Happy Birthday, Honey!!
